Take this SERIOUSLY!
It is important that you understand that lying in your BANKRUPTCY is a FEDERAL CRIME, called Bankruptcy Fraud. Most people have little trouble with the law and rules of Bankruptcy, and it is not worth risking prosecution to save money or property.
Many questions regarding filing deal with issues of furniture and other small property items. Remember that the Trustee doesn't necessarily have to take everything. Much of the furniture and appliances in a family's home is EXEMPT, and cannot be taken.
Hiding property, lying on your case papers and other attempts to "get around" the rules can lead to serious consequences. The FBI investigates such cases as a criminal offense called "Bankruptcy Fraud".
What the law requires is that you HONESTLY list the property you own and the debts you owe. You cannot change things in anticipation of filing your case. It would be illegal therefore, and you might be guilty of a crime. In other words, if you decide to file Bankruptcy and so you have family or friends "hold" property for you to hide it from the Trustee. You can't rush to pay off special creditors like mom and dad just before filing to save them from the discharge. You have to give a true picture of your finances.
